Billie Joe Armstrong to mentor Xtina's team

ANOTHER GREEN DAY FOR BILLIE JOE: Can’t say we saw this coming. The mentor for Christina Aguilera’s team on The Voice this fall will be none other than Billie Joe Armstrong. Turns out the Green Day auteur likes the show. “It’s not molding artists, it’s just giving them a little bit of guidance and direction without giving them a complete makeover,” Armstrong said in the L.A. Times, also noting that it’s already been “a lot of fun” working with Aguilera. As it happens, Armstrong will be getting his prime-time exposure during the release cycle of Green Day’s trilogy, ˇUno!, ˇDos! and ˇTré! Producer and Warner Bros. Chairman Rob Cavallo discusses the motives behind the sequential release and the marathon sessions that yielded the three albums to our own Simon Glickman in our Monday morning profile. To whet your whistles, here’s an in-studio shot of the team, including second guitarist Jason White at far left. (7/30a)
