SPOTIFY’S $4 BEEEELION? Industry wonderers are wondering how Forbes magazine can figure that Spotify “is producing income to musicians perhaps equivalent to $4 billion in total sales.” What Forbes failed to take into account, when Spotify announced it had paid $180m in royalties to musicians last year and is on track to double that figure to $380 million this year, the artists only receive a percentage of that total. They were basing the $4 billion estimate assuming the artists receive all those monies, when they are actually paid to the labels. For the full article, go here. (8/1p)
