Katy says no to Idol

THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY: Katy Perry has turned down a record-setting $20 million offer to become a judge on American Idol, TMZ reported on Saturday. Sources close to the production allegedly told the gossip site that Idol pursued Perry relentlessly for weeks, initially offering $18 million and subsequently increasing the figure, but Perry made it clear that she wasn’t interested and that money wasn't the issue. Apparently, her schedule made it impossible to do the show, but ultimately she simply didn't think it was right career move for her. The item ended, “Mariah must be one pissed, $18 million judge.” In July, Perry told The Hollywood Reporter, "People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved, and it's not right for me yet." The ante is being upped for this celebrity gig: Jennifer Lopez made $12 million a season, and Britney Spears will reportedly get $16 million to judge on The X Factor. (8/27a)
