Tom Calderone Honored by IMNF

FETING TOM: VH1 President Tom Calderone will be honored with the Institute for Music and Neurologic Function’s 2012 Music Has Power Award during a luncheon at Feinstein’s at Lowes Regency in N.Y. tomorrow. The award is presented annually to recognize individuals in the arts, sciences and business communities whose contributions advance the IMNF’s groundbreaking music therapy research, programs and treatments. Previous recipients include neurologist and author Dr. Oliver Sacks; Grateful Dead percussionist Mickey Hart; the late Henry Z Steinway, President of piano company Steinway & Sons; drum pioneer Remo Belli, and film director/producer Jim Kohlberg. The Awards ceremony features live performances by Michael Feinstein and legendary jazz vocalist and cabaret diva Marilyn Maye. Highlighting the set will be a special tribute to recently passed musical great Marvin Hamlisch, a former IMNF board member. The Beastie Boys, Kid Rock, Chris Martin, Moby, Kris Kristoffersen, Patty Griffin, the B-52's and Vanessa Carlton, among others, have all performed to help support The Institute.
