NEW LIFE, NEW HOME FOR GRUNGE HEROES: The reformed, Gary Gersh-managed Soundgarden is in the process of signing with UMG in a worldwide deal put together by Max Hole and Lucian Grainge, HITS’ industry insider I.B. Bad reveals in his latest column, posting Friday morning.  In the U.S., the first album under the agreement will be on Tom Whalley’s Seven Four imprint through Republic. (9/6a)
