CURRENT EVENTS: U.K. chart domination, international press adoration, Olympic glory, a shelf groaning with awards, breathless plaudits from Adele and Simon Cowell--Capitol’s Scottish-born singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé will soon be able to add a triumphant tour to her impressive CV. The Brit belter, who’s contributed her tunesmithing talents to records by Rihanna, Beyoncé and Alicia Keys, among others, will tour the U.S. in support of her monster Our Version of Events album starting Jan. 12. The British Isles' top-selling disc has been parked on the U.K. Top Ten since February and earned stellar reviews, which may explain why Sandé was the only performer to grace the stage at the closing ceremony of the London Olympics. Did we mention that she holds a medical degree in neuroscience? Yeah, it’s a little humbling. But at least you can bask in her reflected glory by catching her live. (10/18a)
