DMB pledges $1m to relief efforts in NJ

A COOL MILLION FOR JERSEY: Dave Matthews Band has pledged $1 million to Superstorm Sandy recovery efforts in New Jersey. The group is turning its Nov. 30 winter tour opener—the first of two nights at the Izod Center in East Rutherford—into a benefit concert, with all , including ticket sales and merch, going to the Bama Works Sandy Relief Fund. Proceeds from tickets that were purchased prior to the announcement of the benefit will also be donated to the fund, which has been established at the Community Foundation of New Jersey to support immediate and long-term regional recovery efforts. Said Hans Dekker, the foundation’s president: "We are honored and touched by the generosity and commitment of Dave Matthews Band to our regional recovery through this relief concert. The event will raise significant dollars for much needed long-term recovery, and the Community Foundation is committed to helping the money raised greatly impact the communities in our region." Jimmy Cliff will be the special guest at the Live Nation-presented benefit. Details at www.davematthewsband.com. (11/14a)
