THE LONG & SHORT OF IT: Legend has it that Irving Azoff takes or returns every call, and sure enough, he interrupted his Cabo holiday on New Year’s Eve to pick up the horn and give the lowdown on his interestingly timed departure from Live Nation to persistent Billboard reporter Ray Waddell. The transcript of the conversation was peppered with an odd word we’re not familiar with (“f---”), but otherwise Irving was clear and to the point in his responses to Waddell’s probes. (1/2a)
