Sony Sales Ups One, Adds Another

SONY SETS SALES: Sony Music Entertainment has filled out its Global Digital Business and Sales team with a promotion and a new appointment by division President Dennis Kooker. Most recently SVP International, Ole Obermann has been upped to EVP Digital Partner Development and Sales, based inLondon, where his team will look to grow revenue and expand marketing opportunities to anyone who hasn’t yet bought the Adele album. Obermann joined Sony Music in 2006 after working for Liquid Digital Media, Walmart.com and McKinsey & Company. He began his music business career at BMG Classics & Jazz after earning a B.A. in International Relations from Colgate and an MBA at Northwestern. The N.Y.-based Mark Piibe is named EVP Global Business Development and Digital Strategy, coming up with new business models and analyzing consumer behavior. He comes to Sony from EMI Music, where he spent the last five years leading business development on a global basis. His career includes working at digital music start-ups such as MusicGremlin and the original Napster, and as an attorney at the firm of Arnold & Porter. Mark holds B.A. and law degrees from McGill University in Canada, and an MBA from INSEAD in France. (1/15a)
