ALL-STAR REUNION: Sylvia Rhone is now officially back in the game. This morning, Sony Music finally got around to announcing the joint venture between Epic and Rhone, forming the imaginatively named Vested in Culture imprint. As Chairman of VIC, Rhone, who reports to L.A. Reid, will oversee the day-to-day ops of the N.Y.-based label. Said Doug Morris, who made the announcement: “Sylvia is one the most talented and gifted creative executives in the industry. She is a proven success who time and again has displayed a special understanding of how to inspire great artistry and develop hits. We are excited to be working with her on this new venture, and we are proud to call her a member of the Sony Music family." Commented Reid: "It gives me great pleasure to work alongside the most successful female record executive of all time. She has taste, style, vision and she has my complete support." Added Rhone: "The partnership between Vested in Culture and Epic Records marks an exciting new chapter in my career. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Doug Morris and L.A. Reid, and couldn't ask to work with better music men than them. I look forward to building a great label and being a part of their continued success." VIC’s first release will be the debut of Latin artist Kat Dahlia, followed by albums from indie pop duo Quadron and R&B singer/songwriter Deon Young. Also signed to the label are writer/artist Sebastian Mikael and L.A.-based rappers Casey Veggies and Cashus Green. (1/30a)
