Spaulding named SVP Sales at Capitol Music Group

DID SOMEONE CALL HIM SCHNORRER?: It's official: Ron Spaulding has joined Steve Barnett's Capitol Music Group team as SVP of Sales, it was announced today by EVP Greg Thompson. According to the press release, he'll "implement and execute the Group's sales and retail marketing strategies, incorporating those plans into the efforts of Universal Music Group Distribution (UMGD) and managing Capitol's vital interaction with that company." Ron previously served as President of Fontana, departing the distribbery last year when it completed its integration into INGrooves; he started at Fontana as EVP/GM in 2007 after tenures at WEA, Asylum, EastWest, EEG and Priority. "Ron's many years of experience in sales, distribution and label operations make him the perfect person to lead Capitol Music Group's commercial strategy in the years ahead," reads a quote from Thompson. Spaulding declared, "I am honored to have the privilege to work with Steve Barnett and Greg Thompson as we re-energize Capitol Music Group and restore luster to Capitol, Virgin and the other great labels within the company. And if Pearson calls, I'm in a meeting." (2/14p)
