Caroline/March Is Metal Month

SHREDDING AT RETAIL: March Is Metal Month, Caroline's yearly celebration of all things dark and heavy, is underway. The campaign, spawned in cahoots with retailers, labels and digital partners (and now in its fifth year), encompasses multiple contests (including a YouTube air-guitar showdown for an axe signed by Five Finger Death Punch), as well as a partnership with UMVD blanketing 50 college campuses with metallic swag. "Metal continues to be one of the most important and compelling genres in music, creating a deep bond between the fan and artist," declared Caroline prexy Dom Pandiscia while biting the head off a bat. "March Is Metal Month is a great opportunity for the fan, either casual or uber-fan, to discover new artists, labels and genres under the umbrella of 'metal.' Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to the most hardcore wine bistro I can find." (3/4p)
