LET’S GET IT ON ALREADY: Lenny Kravitz is no Marvin Gaye, it seems. The artist has dropped out of the title role in the Julien Temple-directed biopic Sexual Healing, Deadline Hollywood reports. Gaye will now be played by Jesse L. Martin, best known for his stint in Law & Order. Set to begin filming later this month in Europe, Sexual Healing focuses on the time Gaye spent in Europe during the ’80s as he attempted to curb his addictions and get his career back on track with the help of British promoter Freddy Cousaert, who’ll be played by Brendan Gleason. Martin was previously attached to star in the James Gandolfini-produced version of Sexual Healing five years ago. Temple’s Sexual Healing made headlines in November when it tapped Kravitz for the lead, triggering vehement objections from Gaye’s son, Marvin Gaye III, who asked Kravitz to drop out and threatened legal action against the film.
