Pitchfork Festival lineup

IT’S NOT THE HEAT, IT’S THE (LACK OF) HUMILITY: If you love left-of-center music in an outdoor setting, Chicago is the place to be in the summertime. Along with Lollapalooza (Aug. 2-4), which transitioned from a tour to a festival held annually at Grant Park in 2004, the Pitchfork Music Festival has established itself as a must-see event for hipsters, along with the online pub’s ascension to uber-tastemaker status with the same crowd. The lineup for this year’s fest, set for July 19-21 at Union Park, is now complete with the additions of Wire, Mikal Cronin, Woods, Pissed Jeans, Daughn Gibson and Frankie Rose (Friday); Andy Stott, Solange, Merchandise, Ryan Hemsworth, Metz, Low, Savages, Parquet Courts, Julia Holter, Ken Mode and White Lung (Saturday); Glass Candy, M.I.A., Evian Christ, Yo La Tengo, Autre Ne Veut, Waxahatchee, Blood Orange and DJ Rashad. They join headliners R. Kelly, Bjrk and Belle & Sebastian, along with previously announced acts Joanna Newsom, The Breeders, Swans, Rustie, El-P, Chairlift, Killer Mike, Tnght, Sky Ferreira, ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead, Mac Demarco, Foxygen, Angel Olsen, Trash Talk and Tree. If there was a HITS Festival, we’d probably have exactly the same acts. (3/27a)
