CBGB movie poster

WHICH ONE’S LITTLE JOHNNY JEWEL? Here’s the just-released, extremely tantalizing promo poster for the upcoming film CBGB, starring Alan Rickman as club owner Hilly Kristal. He’s at the far left above, next to (l-r) Debbie Harry, “co-founder” Idaho, Genya Ravan, Taxi the sound guy, Cheetah Chrome, Stiv Bators, Joey Ramone, Patti Smith, security guard Merv Ferguson, Hilly’s daughter Lisa Kristal and Iggy Pop—played by Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. Also portrayed in the movie will be Richard Hell, David Byrne and Tom Verlaine, according to Consequence of Sound. In a 2012 interview with Rolling Stone, director Randall Miller said the movie is “a story of Hilly and how he basically was the catalyst for this gigantic, sea-changing music. And he didn’t set out to do that initially, but he became sort of the godfather of punk and underground rock.” (3/29a)
