Otis' Son Visits a Record Store

CHIP OFF THE OLD DOCK: Otis Redding III (l), son of the late soul legend, attends a vinyl listening party at Atlanta music retailer Wax’n’Facts for his late dad’s newly released Stax Records album Lonely and Blue as owner Sean Bourne (r) boasts, “You can’t download it on iTunes, suckers!!” Reissue producer David Gorman chose 12 Redding ballads, creating the art for the album based on the look and feel of a Stax/Volt LP recorded in 1967, complete with fake liner notes by a fictitious DJ back in the day. Hey, the only thing missing is payola to get the damn thing played on the radio. (4/5p)
