MoodFix launches

PLAYING ON OUR EMOTIONS: Here’s a wacky premise. Stereomood, an Italian streaming music service that offers curated playlists of indie music based on a user’s mood, yesterday launched MoodFix, a product that “harnesses the innate power of music as medicine,” Digital Media Wire reports. On the welcome page, visitors are invited to pay what they want (as long as it’s a buck or more) for a bundle of two 10-song playlists that act as an antidote to two common ailments: “The Wake Up Call” and “The Power Nap.” playlists. “It’s common belief that music has some kind of healing power, or at least has the potential to heal,” says CEO Eleonora Viviani. “We wanted to translate this into our users’ everyday lives as a fun and useful music tool they could download and have always in hand.” In keeping with Stereomood’s philosophy of working only with indie artists and labels, 70% of all revenues generated by MoodFix sales go directly to the featured artists each month. And speaking of mood fixes, UMPG security has just received a shipment of extremely mellow bud labeled Malibu Dream. (4/12a)
