FALL OUT BOY GOES TO ELEVEN: For last night's performance of "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light 'Em Up)" on Conan, Island/IDJ's Fall Out Boy rolled out a full-bore salute to legendary mock-rockers Spinal Tap. This included using the "pods" from Tap's "Rock 'n' Roll Creation," the undersized Stonehenge monument (complete with dancing little people) and guest bassist Derek Smalls, aka Harry Shearer. Those who didn't get the references may have been a tad mystified, but clearly FOB knows how to finesse the "fine line between stupid and ... uh ... clever," as Nigel Tufnel famously put it, and land squarely on the clever side. Will the band land at #1 next week? Stay tuned. (4/18p)
