Diane Warren Series Set

SHE WRITES THE SONGS FROM THE TV SHOW: Grammy-winning tunesmith Diane Warren will be the subject of a new scripted series, Songbyrd, picked up by E!, based on her songs and experiences. The “dramedy” comes from Smash executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who helmed last year’s Oscar ceremony, and have been signed to do next year’s as well. Written by Krista Vernoff (Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Shameless), the show was originally set up at parent company NBC, and tells the story of “a young, prolific songwriter who struggles to find love in her personal life after her inspiration is revealed to be a lie.” No word on who’ll play the parrot, but the show is slated to premiere sometime next year.
