Waits joins Stones in Oakland

TIME WAITS FOR NO ONE: In Oakland over the weekend, the Rolling Stones pulled out a song from their deep past, Willie Dixon’s “Little Red Rooster” (recorded at Chess in Chicago and released in the U.S. on the 1965 LP The Rolling Stones Now!). That was surprising, but they had a bigger surprise in store, as Tom Waits took the stage grabbed a mic and did his best Howlin’ Wolf impression growling the blues standard. Check out this more than decent fan video of the performance. With Waits’ appearance, the Stones continued their unannounced special guest routine; Keith Urban joined them for “Respectable” and Gwen Stefani dueted with Mick Jagger on “Wild Horses” Friday night at Staples.
