iTUNES CHARTS: Changeover Tuesday is like a fresh coat of paint, new and bright yet comfortingly familiar. Elder statesmen Black Sabbath deliver another #1 to the rock contingent, which has been extremely active in recent weeks, with new albums from veteran bands Jimmy Eat World and the Goo Goo Dolls, along with former Drive By Truckers co-frontman Jason Isbell. They share virtual the main stage with representatives of youth-skewing pop (Big Time Rush), movie music (Hans Zimmer), comedy (The Lonely Island), ambient electronica (Boards of Canada, who are from Scotland—tricky!) and disturbing, misogynistic hip-hop (Action Bronson). That’s an all-new Top 10, apart from Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, whose catchy music and shiny helmets will likely be with us for some time to come. Meanwhile, in singles land, three upstarts from The Voice have crashed the first-class lounge, taking over half of the floor space. You’ll find some of the above-named artistes (but no current reality show contestants), along with the prominently positioned Queens of the Stone Age, recent residents of this very iTunes real estate, on the HITS Building Album Sales Chart, which is just a few hours away from going final.
