WINGING IT: Promo veteran Ron Platzer has returned to Victory Records, his old stomping grounds, as Director of Promotion, label chief Tony Brummel informs us. Previous to his roles as Director of Rock Formats for JMA and Marketing Director for ESPN 1000, Ron played a role in Victory’s formative years from 1995 to 2000. "I'm proud of the many accomplishments during the years I was there, and of their accomplishments in the years that followed, but it's nothing compared to what we're about to accomplish together," Platzer promised. A lifelong Red Wings fan, Ron has been showered with Blackhawks paraphernalia in the office since Chicago eliminated Detroit in the NHL Eastern Conference finals, according to Brummel. The taunting culminated yesterday in the Red Wings ritual throwing of the octopus, landing with a distinctive squishing sound on Platzer’s dome.
