Wale

URBAN RENEWAL: Interesting side note about this week's #1 album, Wale: Though this album was released on Atlantic, the project's genesis was at Warner Bros. under the Todd Moscowitz-Joie Manda administration. When the changing of the guard that put Cameron Strang in charge of West Coast ops went down last December, WBR urban projects like Wale and Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group and a majority of Urban staffers were migrated to Atlantic. But we understand that Strang is developing a plan to make a (thoughtfully conceived) return to Urban music; will Big Jon Platt, one of the most respected players in the field, who took the reins at Warner/Chappell when Strang expanded his purview, figure heavily in that strategy? (7/3p)
