More Tame

SPEAKING OF TAME IMPALA: As we mentioned below, Australian PoMo band Tame Impala topped KROQ's Furious Five countdown, but there's plenty more to the story. "Elephant" is a top 15 audience record at the format, with airplay fueled by early believers 91X and KBZT; this week saw KYSR, KPNT and KNRK join the stampede. The band's Modular/Interscope full-length Lonerism has racked up 125k in sales so far, and recent high-profile festival appearances (including Glastonbury; check out a clip in our iGen section) have set the socials abuzz. A fall U.S. tour with Flaming Lips and The National will doubtless win the Down Under rockers scores of new converts. (7/10p)
