Tues wrap-up

RADIO WRAP-UP: Let's take a look at Tuesday's action at a few key radio formats, shall we?

Top 40
PRMD/Island/IDJ’s Avicii had a strong first day with the breakout hit "Wake Me Up," which is now on 70 stations. Fall Out Boy debuts with 20 new stations on "Alone Together.” Meanwhile, here comes Lava/Republic’s Lorde with "Royals," which picked up seven new stations, all of them majors, including KDWB and KHKS. Republic also had a nice debut with Mika f/Ariana Grande "Popular Song.” It was a strong closeout week for yet another Republic hit, Enrique Iglesias’ "Turn Up The Night,” as well as for Syco/Columbia’s One Direction with "Best Song Ever.” Todd Glassman at Epic continues to make noise with Bonnie McKee, as 16 more stations jump in on "American Girl.” New Politics (RCA) crosses over to Pop and has a nice first week with alt hit "Harlem.”

Alternative
Republic stays red hot as The Naked And Famous' new single, "Hearts Like Ours," is the most added song in the land. Matador’s Queens Of The Stone Age have a real nice week with their latest, "I Sat By The Ocean." "City Of Angels" by Virgin’s Thirty Seconds To Mars and The Neighbourhood's “Afraid” (Columbia) score well this week.

Rhythmic
Ariana Grande’s "Baby I" (Republic) has most added honors this week, with Ludacris’ "Helluva Night" (Def Jam/IDJ) right behind. RCA’s Chris Brown continues to grab new stations. A brand new Drake track, "Hold On, We're Going Home" (Young Money/Cash Money/Republic) dropped this morning; it has a tremendous buzz and is already on the real-time chart.

The UMPG security staff, meanwhile, reports that "adding" a tray of chocolate ganja balls made Tuesday suck way less. (8/7a)
