Going for Adds

HOT TRACKS IMPACTING RADIO:
And good morning to you. What goes better with a hastily assembled breakfast of black coffee and Lucky Charms (or crystal meth and waffles, if you prefer) than a quick survey of the songs going for adds at three top formats this week?

TOP 40
Daft Punk
, “Lose Yourself to Dance” (Columbia)
Kat Graham, “Power” (A&M/Octone)
Drake, “Hold On, We're Going Home” (YM/CM/Republic)
Katy Perry, “Roar” (Capitol)

RHYTHMIC
Drake
, “Hold On, We're Going Home” (YM/CM/Republic)
Drake, “All Me” (YM/CM/Republic)
Daft Punk, “Lose Yourself To Dance” (Columbia)

ALTERNATIVE
Cage The Elephant
, “Come A Little Closer” (RCA)
Vampire Weekend, “Unbelievers” (XL/Beggars)
AFI, “17 Crimes” (Republic)
NONONO, “Pumpin Blood” (Warner Bros.)
MGMT, “Your Life Is A Lie” (Columbia)

Katy Perry's "Roar" is the only single mentioned above to be foreshadowed by four video teasers and a gold semi-truck (it's heralded today by the new lyric video seen above), but the Pop mastermind's reemergence is always a momentous occasion. Daft Punk's follow-up to the indefatigable "Get Lucky" is another nouveau-disco romp powered by the dream team of Pharrell and Nile Rodgers. Meanwhile, Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home" (as our Crossover columnist, Andy Arnold, informed us last week) is getting folks seriously hot and bothered, and not just at radio—it's #4 on the iTunes singles chart at the moment of this writing. On the Alternative side, it seems Cage the Elephant will have the most impact of any song hitting the format this week; 40 stations played the track on its first day. Check here for an updated roundup. Oh, and speaking of impact, a Frisbee struck a UMPG security guard in the forehead this morning. Fortunately, he was already unconscious. (8/12a)
