Judges Dismisses Randy/Paul as Defendants

HOWEVER, CORPORATIONS ARE PEOPLE: In the never-ending slog that is the Michael Jackson wrongful death trial, Judge Yvette Palazuelos today tossed out the case against former AEG Live chief Randy Phillips and colleague Paul Gongaware, though she has left AEG Live itself as a defendant. Judge Palazuelos decreed that the Jackson family's attorneys had not made a sufficient case against the execs as individuals. Her ruling will presumably make matters easier for the jury, which might be less reluctant to find a large corporation culpable than two execs. Michael Jackson's ghost couldn't be reached for comment. (9/9p)
