Sony Music earnings

Q2 REVUE: Doug Morris' Sony Music provides the sweetest notes in Sony Corp's Q2 numbers report. For the three months ending 9/30, music saw a 23.5% bump in operating profit, and revenue increased 15.9%. For the six-month period ending on the same date, meanwhile, operating income increased 35.3% (up $209m) and sales in music were up 14.7%. Tokyo HQ chalked up the spike in sales to "continuing growth in digital revenues" and the success of key recordings, which include Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Daft Punk and, of course, Ikimono-gakari.
