X Factor fuckup--update

X-ED OUT, UPDATE: Viewers once again cast their votes for the 13 remaining contestants on The X Factor following the glitch on Wednesday night’s woulda-been elimination round resulting in the voiding of all of those votes. The fact that they got the voting numbers right on the second try was less impressive than the feat of cramming the 13 do-over performances into 60 minutes with commercials. Though the show's host downplayed the rehash, the episode earned a dismal 1.2 rating. The delayed elimination will take place next Wednesday. (11/8p) / Original post: Simon Cowell tweeted out some rare mea culpas today after a massive voting snafu on last night's X Factor invalidated the evening's competition, forcing the show to bring the contestants back to sing again tonight if they want a chance to make the cut. It seems the wrong voting numbers appeared onscreen during the end of FOX's East Coast telecast; the fuck-up's fallout has been widespread across major media. The incident was only the latest misfortune for the show, which was pummeled in the ratings by the Country Music Awards last night, hitting a series low for regular episodes. Ratings have been declining long enough to inspire the L.A. Times to ask on 10/30 if there was anything Cowell could do to save the show. Last night's display probably wasn't what they had in mind.
