SONGS nabs Lorde

SERVANTS OF THE LORDE: SONGS Publishing has signed teen phenom Lorde. The Kiwi singer/songwriter, whose "Royals" is a multi-format monster and whose Pure Heroine album (Lava/Republic) continues to sell very briskly, is seen here with the pubco's President/head of A&R Ron Perry (l) and Founder/CEO Matt Pincus. Perry credits A&R team member Corey Roberts for alerting him to the New Zealand artist's work early in the year; with every major publisher in hot pursuit, Perry says, SONGS was able to demonstrate he could put together "the right team" for the artist's long-term career goals. Best of all, while visiting Lorde in New Zealand, Perry made friends with a sheep. (11/12p)
