CHIP OFF THE OLD GLASS: This acorn didn’t fall far from the tree. Sean Glass, the 29-year-old son of Glassnote Records founder/head Daniel Glass, has started an indie label of his own. Win Music, which Sean founded six months ago, was conceived to bridge the gap between the music and tech worlds. He’s spread the word in part by deejaying at hackathons and tech events, establishing a network of relationships that extend from the New York City tech world to Silicon Valley. “The reason I got into tech,” Sean explained in a New York Times profile about the budding entrepreneur, “is because at some point, tech is going to own the music business. All I’m doing is preparing for the apocalypse.” Says Dad in the same story: “When I take meetings, no one wants to talk about what I do anymore—they want to talk about Sean. The tech world is just more rock & roll than anything else out there these days. What used to be a cool indie label, an Island or a Chrysalis, is now a start-up firm. Berry Gordy has become David Karp.” (11/20a)
