Rock to the Rescue

"RIDIN' THE STORM OUT" COULD BE THE ENCORE: Just a couple of days ago we were telling you about Journey's donation to typhoon relief in the Philippines (spearheaded by Filipino singer Arnel Pineda). Well, today brings more news of classic rockers coming to the rescue in the wake of natural disaster. Styx and REO Speedwagon will headline Rock to the Rescue Extends a Hand to Those in Need, a benefit concert for victims of the recent tornadoes in the Midwest, on 12/4 at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, IL. Tickets go on sale at Ticketmaster.com on 11/23 for the show, which will provide support to Illinois communities that were overcome by the catastrophic storms. RTTR is a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in the wake of the 9/11 attacks by Styx's Tommy Shaw and REO's Kevin Cronin; it has previously raised money for victims and first responders of that attack and the Boston Marathon bombings, among other disasters. It's good to see these heritage-rock heavyweights using their powers for humanity. The ball's in your court, Foreigner. (11/21p)
