iTunes chart

DOWNLOAD THESE: Three relatively pricey albums--#2 Beyoncé ($15.99), #7 Eminem ($15.99) and #9 One Direction ($14.99)—share the prime real estate on this morning’s iTunes chart with bargains, as the store holds a $6.99 New Year’s sale. The reduced price has lifted such titles as the Frozen soundtrack and OneRepublic to new heights, as well as providing a boost for rock bands of all stripes, including #16 The Neighbourhood, #21 Pearl Jam, #23 Arctic Monkeys, #25 Fall Out Boy, #26 Arcade Fire, #27 Bastille and #28 HAIM. Interestingly, Rob Stringer's blazing-hot Columbia is playing it both ways, sensibly discounting developing acts The Neighbourhood and HAIM while holding the price line on the biggies from Bey and 1D. Meanwhile, the top of the singles chart is little changed, with nine certified smashes and one comer—Katy Perry’s Juicy J-featuring “Dark Horse.” So let’s get this party restarted, shall we? (1/2a)
