YouTube-DreamWorks partnership

YOUTUBE IN A BOTTLE: Despite its mind-numbingly vast collection of content, YouTube has never offered a reliable filter for visitors seeking some kind of (to borrow a term from another new-media source) "curation." Until now. The L.A. Times reports that the online powerhouse has partnered with DreamWorks Animation to create YouTube Nation, a weekly show highlighting noteworthy new clips debuting now on the YouTube Spotlight Page. The show was the brainchild of DW's Jeffrey Katzenberg. YouTube is financing the venture, its first-ever collaboration with a major studio, with DreamWorks serving as producer; the two companies will divide up the attendant ad revenue. Jacob Soboroff (known for HuffPost Live) is the host. The amount of cat-related material is still to be determined. (1/14a)
