Big rock finale for Grammys
HOW ’BOUT “FREE BIRD”? The Grammys will climax with a performance by a one-off rock supergroup including Dave Grohl, Lindsey Buckingham, Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age, executive producer Ken Ehrlich revealed yesterday to Spin. "We're incredibly excited about this number," he said. "There's nothing better than when the Grammys rock out, and to have these artists all together on one stage, doing a number that, when they presented it to us, knocked us out, is going to turn out to be one of those Grammy moments that people talk about for a long time." Ehrlich wouldn’t specify the song the assemblage will play or who else might be part of the performance. As the L.A. Times points out, Buckingham played guitar on NINs' Hesitation Marks, and all three acts appeared in Grohl's Sound City doc, whose soundtrack is up for a Grammy in the compilation category. (1/22a)
