St. Vincent signs with Big Deal

SAINT IN THE CITY: St. Vincent, whose self-titled fourth album, released yesterday on Loma Vista/Republic, is drawing across-the-board raves, has inked a publishing deal with Big Deal Music. The agreement reunites the critically adored artist (whose given name is Annie Clark) with the pubco’s New York-based Dave Ayers, who signed and worked her at Chrysalis. "It’s nice to have her back in our lives again at Big Deal, " said Ayers in the announcement. "Even more exciting since she’s just delivered a career-defining record." Ayers isn’t being hyperbolic, if the early rteviews are any indication. St. Vincent has been hailed as "a straightforward triumph" by The Guardian, which awarded it five stars, while AllMusic.com called it "her most satisfying, artful, and accessible album yet." She’s celebrating the album release tonight with a performance at New York’s Terminal 5. (2/26a)
