IDJ Taps Sam Watters

ISLAND WELCOMES WATTERS: Island Def Jam has appointed Sam Watters VP of A&R of Island Records. The New York-based Watters made his reputation as an artist/writer/producer, fronting and writing for Color Me Badd, launching the career of Jessica Simpson and penning hits for Celine Dion, Kelly Clarkson, Natasha Bedingfield and others; he's recently written songs for breakout Pop act 5 Seconds of Summer, Afrojack, Zendaya, Bebe Rexha, Fifth Harmony and Steve Aoki, among others. He'll report to Island Prexy David Massey, who hailed his gifts as a writer/producer and said, "we are fortunate to welcome him to Island Records." (3/11a)
