Dave Brockie, RIP

DAVE BROCKIE, founder-frontman of the metal-parody band G'WAR, was found dead in his home in Richmond, VA, this morning, band manager Jack Flanagan has announced. He was 50. Brockie performed in the Grammy-nominated, costumed collective under the nom de G'war Oderus Urungus. "Dave was one of the funniest, smartest, most creative and energetic persons I've known," recalled former GWAR bassist Mike Bishop to Style Weekly. "He was brash sometimes, always crass, and irreverent; he was hilarious in every way. But he was also deeply intelligent and interested in life, history, politics and art." Although foul play is not suspected, no cause of death has yet been announced. Our condolences go out to Dave's loved ones. (3/24a)
