BMG gets Skint, Loaded, Fatboy Slim

DANCE CRAZE: BMG is kicking up its collective heels at the acquisition of dance labels Skint and Loaded, including the catalog of Fatboy Slim, Lo Fidelity Allstars and Bentley Rhythm Ace; the 2,500 tracks in the two labels' holdings have cranked up more than 10 million album sales and moved more than 15m singles, including Fatboy's "Praise You," "Rockafeller Skank" and "Weapon of Choice." Founders JC Reid and Tim Jeffery launched Loaded in 1990 as the house scene was blowing up; Skint, which hosted the propulsive Big Beat releases of Fatboy, among others, was born in 1995. At presstime, no one at BMG had yet been designated "funk soul brother." (4/7a)
