YOUR WEEKLY FRONTLINE MARKETSHARE RECAP: Whaddaya know—Capitol Music Group came out on top this week despite the fact that its highest-charting album was #15 Bastille (Virgin), with 12.8k. How’d they do that? True believers and distributed labels, baby. Specifically, #4 Passion, with 31k, comes by way of Capitol Christian Music Group, while the Old 97’s and Rodrigo Y Gabriela, both on Caroline-distribbed ATO, combined for nearly 20k. Doing a quick calculation on the abacus, the four above-mentioned titles collectively contributed 64k to CMG’s total, and the company got enough help from labels with esoteric names deeper in the chart to pull off the win on a bleh sales week overall.
