David Nathan to Big Machine

MAN AND MACHINE: David Nathan is working on his "Yee-haw." The erstwhile SVP Promo and Artist Development at Republic is moving over to the Big Machine Label Group, it was jointly announced today by Republic ruler Monte Lipman and BMLG chief Scott Borchetta. Nathan will continue to be based in NYC and will serve as liaison among the affiliated labels while spearheading promotion for Big Machine Records, Republic Nashville, Valory and Dot. Artists under his purview will include Taylor Swift, Florida Georgia Line, Brantley Gilbert, The Band Perry, Cassadee Pope and Rascal Flatts; Nathan has been a key player in Swift's career from the get-go. He thanked Lipman, Borchetta and Republic EVP Charlie Walk for the opportunity and their support. Said Lipman, who's still trying to find a way to work the word "ethos" into his quote, "David has been one of the pioneers of Republic since its inception. As the company continues to grow its relationships with Nashville's #1 hit-making machine, it only makes sense to invest in the future expansion of Big Machine Label Group. And if anyone's gonna lead the rollout of Varvatos cowboy boots, he's the guy." (5/12p)
