YOUR X-CELLENT HOLIDAY WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: X-Men: Days of Future Past had one of 2014’s strongest debuts, notching up $91.4m for the three-day weekend and $111m counting Friday’s receipts. That tally represents the year’s third best opening behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($95 million) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ($91.6 million). Godzilla was a distant second with $31.1m ($39.4m four-day), a steep 67% drop from its opening weekend, dragged down by poor word of mouth. Not surprisingly, Adam Sandler’s Blended, whose trailer suggested that it was unwatchable, stiffed.

5. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Sony) – $7.8m (-54%), 3,160/$2,468 avg. (weekend 4)
