ALL SYSTEMS GO: Rob Guthrie has been upped to Head of Operations at SONGS by founder/CEO Matt Pincus. The promotion adds oversight of all internal legal processes, business affairs, systems and international PRO and sub-publisher relations to Guthrie’s plate, which already contains responsibility for the pubco’s copyright, admin and royalty departments. Pincus employed a sports metaphor in praising Guthrie, noting that “His off the charts intellect, unmatchable work ethic and stellar communication skills are a rare triple threat that give Rob the unique ability to translate process into business results.” For his part, Guthrie vowed to “meet the demands of the rapidly evolving industry with cutting-edge systems, forward-thinking licensing practices and an incredible community of creative talent. As you can see, my skills also include the proper use of hyphens.” Before joining SONGS in 2007, Guthrie worked at Beggars Group and Matador. (8/1a)
