Box Office

YOUR WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: The talking raccoon was no match for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who stormed the #1 spot at the nation's cineplexes this weekend with a terrific $65 million. Guardians, however, scored the best second week of the summer and is already in the black, having earned about $176m so far. CGI disaster flick Into the Storm blew in with a middling bow, adult-skewing drama The Hundred-Foot Journey took a nice first step and dance sequel Step Up All In fell on its ass with just $6.6m, a new franchise low, landing at #6.

  1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Paramount $65m $16,905/3,845 (debut)
  2. Guardians of the Galaxy Disney $41.5m (-56%) $10,159/4,088 (week 2)
