ADAM RAISED A CHAIN: That deal we told you about last week between Doug Morris’ Sony Music and Adam Alpert’s Disruptor Management is in the books, Morris confirmed this morning. Under terms of the multi-year creative partnership, Sony Music will distribute releases from the newly created Disruptor Records, and will also work closely with Alpert to identify opportunities for collaboration with other artists repped by Disruptor. Alpert demonstrated rarefied A&R and marketing chops with his management clients The Chainsmokers, whose “SELFIE” became a pop-cultural phenomenon earlier this year. Morris describes Alpert as “an exciting young entrepreneur with a strong vision for creating success through fresh approaches to artist development—that includes building fan bases in nightclubs, online and through direct connections with fans.” Alpert explains that “Being a disruptor is about shaking things up, and with this new venture we plan to offer artists a different kind of music company, one that offers a full suite of services and develops artists using a more millennial-focused approach.” (8/29a)
