ON SECOND THOUGHT… CBS Sports had planned to open tonight’s inaugural Thursday Night Football telecast (starting at 5:15pm PDT) with Don Cheadle doing a narration over Jay Z's "Run This Town" featuring Rihanna. But with domestic violence hogging the headlines, the network today decided pull the plug on the segment. "We thought journalistically and from a tone standpoint, we needed to have the appropriate tone coverage," CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus said of the last-minute move. The segment will be replaced by a discussion of Roger Goodell's recent comments about the Ray Rice incident. Until being released on Monday afternoon, following the appearance of the elevator video, Rice was the star running back for the Baltimore Ravens, who are hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers in tonight's game. Today's news was broken by—who else?—TMZ. (9/11p)
