Daniel/Childish

BOW REGARD: Presenting yet another superhero rendering (by our own Van Arno) from the recently published HITS 28th Anniversary Issue, which landed with a resounding thud in industry offices recently. This morning's comic-book star is Glassnote chieftain Daniel Glass, who is currently celebrating the instant success of the brand-new EP by hip-hop iconoclast Childish Gambino. The seven-song set Kauai shot to the top of the iTunes album chart this weekend; proceeds from its sale will go toward keeping the beaches of the titular Hawaiian isle clean, among other worthy causes (and it boasts a new "Beach Picnic Version" of his breakout hit, "V. 3005"). Gambino's explosive ACL Fest performance this weekend, meanwhile, earned raves; the Austin 360.com blog declared after the set, "He just might be the most important hip hop artist coming up in the game." Of course, Gambino is but one arrow in the Glassnote quiver (click on the graphic for a heroically enlarged view). (10/6a)
