Buffett zings Ek

CHEESEBURGERS & SWEDISH MEATBALLS: Jimmy Buffett combined confrontation and comedy today at Vanity Fair’s first New Establishment Summit in San Francisco, the magazine’s website reports. Taking the mic during the Q&A phase of the morning’s “Disrupting the Music Business” panel, Buffett posed a question to Spotify’s Daniel Ek. “Do you see [artists] getting a raise directly from you, as opposed to the bullshit you have to deal with in going through a label?” he asked. By the time the revenue stream from the popular streaming music service reaches the artist, Buffett said, it’s nothing more than a “trickle.” Ek had no choice but to agree, but moderator Irving Azoff had the last laugh, suggesting to Buffett that he “sell one of the planes.” (10/8p)
