Big Deal, BMG sign Dan Wilson

REOPENING TIME: Renowned songwriter and artist Dan Wilson has inked a pub for new compositions with Big Deal Music under its JV deal with BMG Chrysalis U.S. Big Deal will now also exclusively handle the Semisonic back catalog. Dan, a longtime friend of the HITS family, has quite a dossier, having co-written with Adele (“Someone Like You”) Dixie Chicks (“Not Ready to Make Nice”), John Legend, Taylor Swift, Jim James, P!nk, Dierks Bentley, Nas, Josh Groban, Weezer, Carole King and others. “Dan is clearly one of my favorite songwriters, and just happens to be one of my favorite people as well,” says Big Deal’s Kenny MacPherson. “It’s great to be able to resume this relationship that’s now lasted nearly 20 years.” BMG Chrysalis N.A. creative topper Laurent Hubert, meanwhile, is “ecstatic about continuing the journey with Dan.” Wilson is mighty pleased about the whole thing too.
