Prince will get extended slot on SNL

EIGHT IS ENOUGH: Prince’s SNL performance this weekend will break precedent for the long-running show. Rather than the standard setup, in which the musical guest is given two four-minute slots, Prince will get an uninterrupted eight-minute block to bust out what’s being billed as a jam session with his all-girl band 3RDEYEGIRL. Why would Lorne Michaels give Prince special treatment in his first SNL appearance since 2006, you might ask? Because he’s Prince—duh. Expect jams to be kicked out by the Purple One, whose presence was specifically requested by host Chris Rock. (10/27a)
